There are people with a stage presence that is so tangible, one can almost touch it, but cannot. These people make the best speakers, they have the most attendance, and whatever they say gets quoted verbatim even after the event had long finished.

These charismatic people were not born that way. They developed their stage personalities after careful study of what are expected by audiences in a speaker. They study the way they are supposed to sound, dress, and speak. There are even others who manage to make fictitious personal lives in order to promote their charisma on the stage. This takes talent. The Neuro-linguistic programming movement says that by studying and applying their techniques, one can actually succeed as speakers and succeed in leaps and bounds. They claim that their techniques, which can be learned in a 3 day seminar, will train people to improve their personalities and the way they work. They can actually promise to make a non-charismatic speaker become the best there ever was.

Does the technique really work? Do they really make the unsuccessful, successful? The answer to that is very difficult, as the NLP trainers themselves will tell you later on. They will say that no matter the training, which is very hard to master, if your personality grates on people because of the way your voice sounds, then there is really nothing that you can do about it except to try to improve on it. The key word here is ‘try’. There is no guarantee.

There are no guarantees in using conversational hypnosis to make better stage appearances, what is guaranteed is that the seminar trainers will train the attendees to the best of their abilities and improve on their innate talents. It is guaranteed that if the techniques are applied correctly, then the possibility of success will increase.
